With reference to your letter No. 48499/15 of

the 29th ultimo respecting a proposed shipment to Hong-

Kong for re-shipment to the Sincere Company's branch

at Canton, I am directed by Secretary Sir E.Grey to

refer you to letter No.152337 from this Department

of the 28th ultimo which had presumably not reached

Geveral you when your letter under reply was despatched.

I am to add that should the arrangement communicat-

ed in the above-mentioned letter from this Department

fail to cover the particular case in question Sir E.

Grey will be prepared to cause telegraphic enquiries

to be made of His Majesty's Consul-General at Canton

with a view to placing the Sincere Company on the list

of approved consignees in China on the receipt of a

guarantee that the cost of these enquiries will be

de frayed by the applicant.
